Scannpoint USA offers special services to the reverse engineering works, once a laser survey has been completed, the point cloud can be reverse engineered to provide a fully parametric CAD & 3D representation of the as built state. This model can then be used to compare against the design model to check for manufactured errors, general wear and tear or damage. Also improvements in the existing component can be easily traced.

Using the latest hand held scanning systems we can achieve accuracies of 50 microns in the field and even lower in our studio. We shall deploy most advanced instruments to make sure we deliver cutting edge measurements with the specified tolerance as per the client’s requirements.
Once a 3D model has been created in can be used in a wide range of applications and Digital have worked on projects as diverse as super yacht interior fits outs, to simulating ballistic impacts or 3D printing of model parts. Our non-contact or non invasive methodology allows for very fast data capture with minimum disruption on site depending on the scanning object and its accessibility.
Many industry environments have legacy parts of systems with components that have been discontinued or modified over the years, with no existing or accurate plans. Reverse engineering using laser scanning allows for these items to transformed into a digital 3D and CAD format suitable for modern manufacturing processes, model simulations, inspections or 3d printing.
